Duties

- Policy-making, planning, organizing and managing scientific and executive evaluation of surveillance system of non-communicable diseases and related risk factors in the Province

- Monitoring, supervising and evaluating surveillance system of non-communicable diseases and related risk factors in the Province

- Facilitating the implementation of national plans for prevention and control of non-communicable diseases and related risk factors in the Province

- Attracting inter-sectoral as well as cross-sectoral collaboration at University in the field of prevention and control of non-communicable diseases

- Identifying and prioritizing community health problems in the field of non-communicable diseases and providing solutions and adopting appropriate strategies

Department of Preventing and Combating Non-Communicable Diseases is responsible for building capacity and strengthening the proper infrastructure for caring risk factors of non-communicable diseases and prioritizing programs for controlling and preventing these diseases as well as monitoring interventions and assessing their impacts through the implementation of registration programs in hospitals for people who are injured in accidents, preventing and controlling high blood pressure and diabetes in rural areas, preventing and controlling diabetes and hypertension, management system of risk factors for non-communicable diseases, preventing new cases of beta thalassemia major, screening congenital hypothyroidism of neonates, organizing Phenylketonuria (PKU), Phenylketonuria screening, generalized genetics plan, cancer registry, audiometry, etc.
